Center for Genomics and Systems Biology, Department of Biology, New York University, published an article “Filthy lucre: A metagenomic pilot study of microbes found on circulating currency in New York City” where a total of 397 bacterial species representing more than 20 bacterial phyla were identified across aggregate banknote samples obtained from various location in New York City.

Most dollar bills are teeming with bacteria

It is well established through number of scientific studies and laboratory testing that banknotes serve as a fomite, an inanimate vehicle by which pathogens can be spread and some of them are health hazard. You’d be hard-pressed not to handle a US dollar bill that wasn’t teeming with microbes. Tests have shown that as many as 94% of dollar bills in circulation are contaminated with high levels of bacteria.

⬛ AMROTEC’s Currency Discriminators model MIB-9″UVC” and MIB-11″UVC”  are equipped with its own Patented technology and method [U.S Patent # 1,1,321,988)] of using of Multi-Strips of about 45 pieces of “GERMICIDAL” UV-C LEDs (having about 270nm Wavelength) installed at the end of bill conveyor mechanism, invisible to operator’s eye and automatically emit Germicidal UV-C Rays downwardly on the passing banknotes. 

⬛ Banknotes get irradiated by UV-C rays and get disinfected instantly with about 75% ~ 80% efficacy in killing bacteria depending on models and types of bacteria, according to laboratory test performed in Texas with AMROTEC’s equipment.

⬛ AMROTEC’s UV-C Disinfect System is automatic and does not require any user’s intervention to activate or deactivate. UV-C LEDs emit when machine starts processing Banknotes and get turns off when counting is completed.  

⬛ Although MIB-9 and MIB-11 “UVC” model able to denominate and process monies up to 1200 Notes per Minute and perform all original functionality of  currency discriminating counters, these “UVC” models are most effective in disinfecting banknotes at a speed of 800 Notes per minute.
